“During my 11 years in mission, God has taught me much. He has lead me down paths of humiliation, helped me to feel the bitter cold of despair and yet the exhilaration of hope, and has shown me that only through him we can find TRUTH. When I tell people about what I do in Chile I say that I don’t think God called me because I am a carpenter. There are many more skilled craftsmen than I in Chile. His reason for calling me is still unknown and probably will remain so. I always thought that it had something to do with my skills. Lately I believe he just wants me to be obedient. I think all he wants is for me to love him and let myself be available for whatever comes up in His name.” A native of Richmond, Virginia, John and his family lived for seven years in Panama. Mr. Elmore graduated from Woodson High School in Fairfax in 1971. He is a member of Forest Lake United Methodist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama
